Education and Learning

Education has been central to Jewish life since biblical times. To ensure a vibrant future for our Jewish community, the Jewish Federation of Central new York supports education by funding Jewish schools and through our own programs and services.

Rabbi Jacob H. Epstein School of Jewish Studies

Grade 7 – 12

The Epstein School brings together Jewish teens in grades 8–12 from across Central New York for meaningful learning and community. Meeting Tuesday nights from 6:30pm – 8:30pm, our classes are taught by the rabbis from the four local congregations alongside other talented Jewish educators. Additional Epstein programs include Shalshelet (volunteering as a counselor in community schools), Hillel college visits, community volunteering opportunities, and Teen Taste of Israel, Epstein's yearlong exploration of Israeli history and culture that culminates in a low-cost two-week educational Israel journey for participating teens.
