Named for the founder of the National Council of Jewish Women, the Hannah G. Solomon Award recognizes women who have helped change and expand the role of other women in community life and whose leadership has inspired others to act. Hannah Greenebaum Solomon convened the first national gathering of Jewish women at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, and from there built the oldest Jewish women’s organization in the United States dedicated to improving the lives of women, children, and families. The award that bears her name is given to community builders who quietly make that mission real.
